Sutton Trust Summer School at St Andrews: - 1 – 6 July 2018

The university of St Andrews is one of ten UK universities which facilitates the Sutton Trust Summer School: a unique summer programme for S5 pupils, provided free of charge.
As a participant, pupils will gain an insight into life as a first-year undergraduate through attending academic subject strands taught by leading experts. Subject strands often combine two or more areas, allowing pupils the chance to explore a range of possible courses and develop key academic skills before committing to university study. Pupils will also receive valuable advice on making UCAS applications, as well as on finance, careers and accommodation options.
It’s not all hard work, though! They’ll live in a hall of residence with students from all over the country - just like a first-year undergraduate - and take part in a wide range of social activities and opportunities to learn new skills.

For more information please visit: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/study/non-degree/summer/sutton-trust/

Applications will open on Tuesday 9 January and close on Thursday 8 March 2018.

University of St Andrews S4 Summer School – Sunday 10 to Wednesday 13 June 2018

Open to S4 pupils, this residential programme is intended to give pupils, in rural areas of Scotland, an insight into university life and inspire them to remain dedicated at school and aim for high achievement in their S5 year and beyond.  The programme will include a number of academic taster sessions as well as workshops designed to equip pupils with the necessary skills to progress successfully into higher education.  Pupil travel expenses to and from the University of St Andrews will be covered and the pupils will only be required to bring spending money for lunches and their personal use.

Applications will open in March 2018.
