FACE COVERINGS IN SCHOOLS UPDATE

FACE COVERINGS IN SCHOOLS

From Monday 31st August, the Scottish Government guidelines on face coverings in schools will change. Full details can be found in the updated Scottish Government document, Preparing for the Return of Schools, pages 16-19. These guidelines are summarised below:

· Wear your own mask to school from Monday

· Continue to wear it on all school transport, including the College bus

· It is recommended that you bring a small plastic bag with you to keep your mask clean when you are not wearing it

· Make sure your hands are clean before touching your mask

· Wear your mask responsibly

· Never touch another person’s mask

· Put your mask on before leaving a classroom

· Wear your mask in corridors and on stairs, and in all indoor public/shared areas, including queues and toilets

· You should put your mask back on after you finish eating at lunch time

· You may continue to wear your mask in class if you wish to do so

· You do not require to wear a mask in outside areas

· If there is a reason for you not to wear a mask, you or your parent must tell your Guidance teacher who will inform the school office

· If you forget your mask, you may request one from the school office, but it is everyone’s responsibility to have their own mask

· Washable, reusable masks are recommended. Masks should be washed at 60 ˚. Single use masks must be disposed of responsibly.
